Jacob Taurel named a Citywire Americas Next Generation finalist: how selection works

At this stage of the program, Citywire selects winners through a combination of votes and interviews. In practice, voting for the 2025 awards ran until March 21. In addition, voting was open to clients, peers and industry professionals.

What this recognition means to our team

For our team, seeing Jacob Taurel named a Citywire Americas Next Generation finalist is a moment to pause and reflect. Recognition from an outside organization is encouraging. However, we measure our work first by how well we serve the people who rely on us. Therefore, we view this milestone as a reason to keep improving rather than a finish line.

Good planning work depends on steady, patient effort. Client conversations, careful analysis and follow-through rarely draw attention on their own. In other words, much of an advisor’s value happens quietly, over many years. Of course, we are glad to see that effort noticed.

Strong advice often grows out of teamwork. Colleagues share ideas, review each other’s thinking and challenge assumptions. As a result, a client can benefit from more than one perspective. For instance, a question about retirement income may also touch on taxes, insurance and estate plans. Therefore, collaboration helps an advisor see the full picture before making a recommendation.

What the CFP® designation involves

Jacob holds the CFP® certification, which CFP Board grants to professionals who meet its requirements. First, candidates complete coursework in financial planning topics. Next, they pass a comprehensive certification exam. In addition, they must gain relevant professional experience. Finally, they agree to uphold CFP Board’s ethics standards.

As a result, the designation signals a baseline of training and commitment. It does not, however, guarantee any particular outcome for a client.

How to read an industry award

Awards can offer a useful snapshot, but they tell only part of the story. For example, each program sets its own criteria. Those criteria may differ from what matters most to you. Instead of relying on any single honor, consider asking a few direct questions.

Above all, ask how the advisor is paid and what services the fee covers. It also helps to learn how often you can expect to meet. For instance, some families want quarterly reviews, while others prefer to connect as needs arise. Most importantly, find out how the advisor builds and updates a plan over time.

Next, pay attention to how the advisor listens. A good first meeting should feel like a conversation, not a sales pitch. In contrast, a rushed discussion may signal that your goals will take a back seat. Finally, trust your own sense of fit. The right advisor explains ideas in plain language and welcomes your questions.

Looking ahead

Meanwhile, our focus stays where it has always been: on thoughtful planning and clear communication. Fortunately, recognition like this reminds us that the next generation of advisors is eager to raise the standard for the profession. We are grateful Jacob is part of that group. We look forward to supporting his continued growth.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey and for your continued support.
